Well, being a Viking fan my whole life we decided it was time to go to a game, maybe see Brett Favre play and be home town fans. We landed, checked into our hotel and headed off to the Mall of America. It was the coolest thing in the world, Viking stuff everywhere! Headed back to the room only to see the forecast for a major storm coming in, no big deal considering we were in Minnesota. Next morning we headed back to the mall and the storm had arrived, high winds, cold temps and lots of snow. Throughout the day that's all everyone was talking about was the storm and how cold it was going to be. Around dinner time the mall started to thin out and rumors were that the mall was going to close. What, two weeks before Christmas and their closing the mall. We decided to have some dinner before heading back to our hotel. Then we were told that the restaurant was closing too. Went out into the mall to head back to our hotel and was shocked to see that we were the only ones left in the mall, sure enough it had closed. Ran to the shuttle with sideways snow and below zero temperatures. Then the rumors about the game being cancelled because the other team couldn't get to Minnesota due to the airport closing. Then breaking news in the hotel, the Dome had collapsed and there was no game tomorrow! There was no way we were not going down to see the Dome, so we headed out Sunday morning dressed in all our Viking gear. Winds were around 20-30 mph and wind chill was -22°. Froze our butts off but we were there, the only ones, but we were there at the dome-less dome. We will go back but maybe a little earlier in the season. Check out the new photo's of our trip.
Pays to plan ahead, Snow blower fired up first pull! The Last few weeks I got all the out door items put away for winter, started snow blower and waxed the shovels. Yes waxed the shovels, even waxed the inside of the snow blower. I have some old wax from my skiing days so I put it to good use, it works. I ran down town today to get some equipment out for the Union Gospel Mission. We are going to (Volunteer) help feed the homeless and the working poor families here in Spokane this coming Wednesday. We are plannig on feeding around 900 people a hot Turkey dinner. Well, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
It's not a big, fast boat like our last, but it's pretty sweet. Pulled in a nice Brown this day out at Rock lake. Made it home in time to see the Vikings beat the Cowboys! A Good Day!
